🎮 Instant Games, Profile Updates & More

This week’s update brings a brand-new way to jump into multiplayer games around the Hotel, improvements to Profiles, new onboarding changes, fresh Catalogue additions, and a handful of important fixes and quality-of-life updates.

Let’s get into it.

🎮 Instant Games!

A new way to jump into games around the Hotel has arrived.

Today, we’re beginning a trial of the Instant Games system, allowing you to quickly join active matches of some of Habbo’s classic multiplayer games without needing to hunt around the navigator for a room.

Right now, Instant Games supports:

  • ♟️ Chess
  • 🚢 Battleships
  • ⭕ Tic Tac Toe
  • 🥊 Wobble Squabble ("Rumble")
  • ⚽ Battle Ball
  • 🎲 Backgammon

Yes, Backgammon.

For long-time Habbo historians, you may remember Backgammon was originally planned for the Cunning Fox Gamehall over 25 years ago, but never officially made it into the Hotel. We’ve restored and completed the original work, and it’s now finally playable for the first time in Origins.

The system itself should feel familiar to some players too. This is the same matchmaking framework Habbo historically used for games like Battle Ball and SnowStorm, rebuilt and adapted for wider Hotel use.

Like many new systems introduced recently, this will run as a prolonged trial while we monitor how players use it. We’re especially interested in understanding:

  • How it impacts Daily Challenge completion
  • Whether it helps new users discover multiplayer activities faster
  • If it improves long-term player retention and social interaction
  • How players feel about faster access to games overall

As always, feedback matters here. We’ll be actively watching community discussion and making adjustments where needed, so please continue sharing your thoughts with us.

And for those already asking: Yes, this does mean the foundations for SnowStorm already exist within Origins.

Yes, we still have the original systems archived. And yes… that also includes Toby.

We’ll share more about SnowStorm plans another time. 👀

📘 A Small Update to Profiles

We know there’s currently an InfoBus poll running around Profiles, but one thing became very clear almost immediately after launch:

“There’s not enough interesting information on them.”

Fair feedback.

A lot of suggestions came in over the past few weeks, but two requests appeared again and again, so we’ve gone ahead and added both:

  • 📅 Information about when a Habbo originally joined the Hotel
  • 🏅 A new badge collection view, allowing players to show off badges they’ve earned

The badge section supports scrolling through a player’s collection, making it easier to spot older event badges, competition rewards, rares tied to achievements, and other bits of Origins history attached to an account.

This isn’t intended to be the final version of Profiles, and we’re still watching the ongoing feedback and poll discussion closely. Some players want Profiles to remain lightweight, others want far more statistics and progression data added over time.

For now though, hopefully this makes profile viewing a little more interesting while giving players a few more ways to show off their history around the Hotel.

🎵 Alhambra Trax Reaches the Hotel

It’s been a little while since we last released new Trax content, mostly due to the ongoing sound-related issues affecting some of our Mac users.

That said, one message kept coming through loud and clear:

“Give us more sound.”

So this Friday, we’ve added three brand-new Alhambra Trax Pax to the Catalogue, packed with instruments, loops, and sounds inspired by the atmosphere of the Alhambra range.

Whether you’re building a busy bazaar, a quiet palace courtyard, or somewhere in between, there should now be a few more ways to bring that Alhambra feeling into your rooms.

🧭 New User Onboarding Updates

We’ve made a couple of adjustments to the new user onboarding flow to help fresh arrivals settle into the Hotel a little more naturally:

  • New users are no longer shown the Bulletin immediately on first login
  • Jeff and Meg, our tutorial NPCs, will now shout guidance messages instead of saying them normally, helping important onboarding instructions stand out more clearly in busy rooms

🚪 Resume Flow Improvements

We’ve adjusted how room resume behaviour works when reconnecting to the Hotel.

  • If you return to the Hotel after disconnecting while inside a doorbelled or password-protected room, you’ll now be placed straight back into the room without being prompted again

This should help make reconnects feel a little smoother, particularly for players who briefly disconnect while spending time in private spaces.

🛒 Shop Updates

The Catalogue has received a few new additions this week:

  • Added an Alhambra Market Stall furniture item (Permanent)
  • Added an Alhambra Snake Statue rare (Temporary)
  • Added a Music Statue furniture item (Permanent)

We’ve also added an additional warning prompt for newer accounts purchasing certain high-value items from the Catalogue.

  • Users with a NEW or LIMITED account standing will now receive a warning explaining when purchased items, such as Rares or Habloons, will become temporarily account-bound after purchase

This is part of our ongoing work to reduce fraud and abuse involving newly created accounts while still keeping the purchasing process transparent for legitimate players.

🔧 Hotfixed Bugs

The following issues were fixed shortly after release:

  • Fixed client errors when opening the Room Competition interface
  • Resolved issues allowing furniture to be placed into the void using Advanced Movement tools
