Patch Notes: More Furni, Fewer Limits

Patch Notes: More Furni, Fewer Limits

This is one of those updates you might not notice immediately, but the moment you start building, you’ll feel the difference.

Habbo’s client has a hard limit of 1,000 on-screen sprites. It’s always been there, and it’s not something we can change. Once you hit it, that’s it, no more furniture, no matter how much space you have left in your room.

What we can change, though, is how those sprites are used.

🧱 A SMARTER WAY TO BUILD

In this update, we’ve done a major overhaul of how the client manages sprites behind the scenes.

Invisible or unused sprites are now properly cleaned up, and where possible, similar sprites are reused and cached more efficiently. The goal here is simple: reduce waste, and make sure more of the available sprites are used for the things that actually matter, your rooms.

The result is more usable space when building, without changing the underlying limit.

⚠️ NO MORE CRASHING AT THE LIMIT

Historically, hitting the sprite limit wasn’t just restrictive, it could completely crash your client and throw you out of the game.

That wasn’t a great experience, and it’s something we’ve wanted to address for a while -with this update, the client now has an “emergency” reclamation mode. If you get close to the sprite limit, the client will step in to stabilise things.

It will first remove non-essential visuals like furniture and avatar shadows. If that’s not enough, it will begin temporarily hiding the highest sprite-usage furniture in the room. Nothing is deleted, everything remains exactly where it is, but this prevents the client from crashing and lets you continue playing.

📈 WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BUILDING LIMITS

The improved sprite management system is live for everyone as of today’s update, however, server-side building limits are still in place for now.

To safely push those limits higher, we’ve fully lifted building restrictions for EC users. This allows us to properly stress test the system and understand where the new safe limits are.

Assuming everything holds up, we’ll be increasing building limits for all players shortly after.

🔍 BETTER VISIBILITY WITH :SPRITES

We’ve also updated the :sprites command.

It now provides accurate, real-time information about exactly how many sprites your client is using,  including furniture, avatars, and UI elements. If you’re someone who likes to push the limits, this should give you a much clearer picture of what’s going on as you build.

🌾 A FRESH SET TO BUILD WITH

Alongside these improvements, there’s something new to build with too.

As covered in our recent article, the Country furni line has arrived in the Catalogue, bringing rustic wood finishes, cosy farmhouse details, and everything you need to create your own countryside retreat.

Whether it’s a small cottage or something more ambitious, there’s plenty here to work with. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to start a new build, this is probably it.

🧭 WHY THIS MATTERS

This is a foundational improvement.

It gives us more flexibility in how we design rooms and features going forward, and more importantly, it gives you more freedom to build without running into invisible walls, or getting kicked out of the game when you do.
